The Hunter Crossfire Series Book 2 Gennita Low 9780060591236 Books
"Hunter" gives the background information for many of the characters that continue into later books. I began reading Low's books with "Warrior" the 5th book in the series. I enjoyed the combination of intelligent and witty humor, combat and romance but I didn't understand the flashback references to the previous missions. So I went back to read "Hunter" This book, more than "Protector" sets the storyline for the next few stories. That's why this story should be a "must read". We learn background info and motivation for most of the key players who pop up in later books.I gave this book a 5 because it kept me interested, had a good pace and character development and it constantly evolved. Yes, the storyline of the human trafficking is primary, but there are continuing secondary or overlapping stories developing with the infiltration of the CIA, Lily, the bomb, Aunt Greta the handler, Brad, T, Alex, the elusive Jed and the future of Amber.
I want closure on the secondary story lines so I bought the remaining books between "Hunter" and "Warrior" to get the rest of the story. I'm still trying to figure out why one of the characters in "Warrior" can't go back to Europe. Hopefully I will find the information that I seek in "Sleeper" or "Pirate".

The Hunter Crossfire Series Book 2 Gennita Low 9780060591236 Books Reviews
Since the other reviews give you a good idea of the plot, I'll tell you why reading Gennita Low's books is the best treat you can give yourself. Gennita Low is great at giving readers action pact stories filled with exotic and intriguing locales (how often do you read - or hear about - Macedonia), spies you are challenged to trust . . . or mistrust, SEALS who are closer to reality than fiction and heroine's you can root for. If you like books with action and adventure (think the Bourne series, but with kick-butt heroines deeply involved in rectifying wrongs) and enough romance to balance all the edgy tension during the ride, then The Hunter is the book for you. Heck, any of Gennita Low's books are for you. The women are strong, smart and someone you want by your side. The men are gorgeous, heroic, and the person you want to have on speed dial if you find yourself in trouble.
With Hawk and Amber, Gennita did not hold back. She let their passion be just as dangerous as the people who are ch. . . nope, I won't spoil it for you.
So glad I took the chance on this book! The writing was significantly better! I will have to update my review of Protector.
In this book, the female stays during and solid, the male doesn't turn into a mega alpha who doesn't have faith that his woman can handle herself. The two respect one another's skills. There is also a lot of good humor does throughout the book to counter the serious sub-story details. Not to take away from the seriousness but to break up the darkness.
Really enjoyed this story!
Good Lord Gennita Low! First off.. I was introduced to Gennita Low as an author through the Secret Assasins series.. Into Danger.. And because I'm too cheap and want to wait for sales.. So I put Hunter on the wish list and it went on sale!! I'm soooo mad I waited! This was an Excellent book! From the actual issues of human trafficking, drug and gun wars and how crooked the powers that be could be in all of this... Mission this. Mission and orders that.. Red tape here and red tape there! I absolutely loved Hawk! Through and through! I enjoyed his alpha male but also extremely intuitive about people and situations.. The way he was able to manipulate his situation and not get caught before he did was insane! Amber was awesome! Amber and Lily together were awesome! I love it when these books feature women who are fearless and sensual but know how to handle business in all aspects when it's time! I almost cried towards the end when it was time for Hawk to become the Hunter and get Amber back... Cause who helps him just had me grinning from ear to ear!!! Ah I don't want to give the story away but man.. This was an excellent book.. You feel the emotions, you experience the highs and lows, the anger.. The anxiety.... I was at work like dang it! I have to finish this! Anyway, I say this to say if your looking for a good book.. A good series to jump into.. This is it... Well worth it regardless of price!
The Hunter is Book 2 in the Crossfire series. The book picks up where The Protector left off. Navy SEAL Commander Hawk McMillan is deep undercover trying to locate stolen United States' military grade weapons including a new special weapon with new technology that can avoid detection. His target is slave trader, weapons dealer, and all around bad mobster, Dragan Dilaver, a Kosovo kingpin. Hawk "saves" Dragan in Asia (book 1) and escorts him back home to Velesta, Macedonia. Needing help to navigate around this unfamiliar territory, McMillan is partnered with Amber Hutchens a contractor for the intelligence community.
From the get go, The Hunter is a smart, suspenseful and sexy story - everything a reader would want in a romantic suspense. Hawk McMillan is not only capable, well-trained, and well-sculpted (after all, he is a SEAL), he is also intelligent, kind, compassionate and loving. As a dealer in information, she is not only a contract operative but a street smart, cheeky, smart-ass heroine. The highlight of the book is the give and take in their relationship. There is a balance to the relationship and it is fun. Did I mention that there interactions are also very sexy and hot? Yup, definitely scorching.
This is also a story of the on-going exploitation of women and the white slavery trade in the world. Gennita Low writes about it in necessary and sometimes uncomfortable detail. Some of the scenes are bound to stay with me for months. Her characters spotlight the frustration at the complicity of international forces/organization in the proliferation of sexual slavery. It is an important story and one that needs and deserves to be told over and over again.
