In keeping with the TWILIGHT movies and the TV series TRUE BLOOD, Ms. Gagne downplays the more terrifying aspects of vampirism in favor of the more romanticized angles. Damien is wish-fulfillment personified: handsome, enigmatic, fiercely devoted, and powerful, he appears out of nowhere to sweep Lianna off her feet. A few modifications are made to traditional vampire lore; dispelling certain strengths and weaknesses (transformations, crosses, sunlight etc.), and the mention of a deeper social structure, even a family. Damien, like several other modern vampires, is less like a monster and more like an ordinary person who happens to be gifted with special abilities.

Of particular interest is the inclusion and mention of other supernatural types other than vampires. Indeed, solo-bloodsucker stories seem to be increasingly more of a rarity, as their once-closed off world is expanded to include werewolves, sorcerers, and immortals to name a few. On the one hand, having the vampires vying with so many other beings for attention could potentially end up overcrowding; on the other, it does broaden the horizon, allowing for many possibilities in an ongoing series.

Adhering closely to the current trend of vampire portrayals, BLOOD ROSE is a story that succeeds or fails, depending upon its audience. It is a moving and well-written book, but one that stands among many of a similar vein.

I stepped right inside of this book from the first page and did not return until the last.
Lianna is cursed with nightmares from the time of her childhood to present. However,now the dreams feel real and will not leave her alone. Emotionally, she is exhausted and terrified as her reality seems to be colliding with her nightmares.
What does this mean? Desperate to find answers, she turns to her mysterious best friend. Though Lianna didn't buy into all this hoodoo voodoo, she had to find out the meaning of the dreams before they took over her sanity.
The hidden danger of nightmares and reality begin to pick up speed. Soon she finds herself confiding in Damien, the dark sexy man with secrets of his own, who deliberately placed himself in Lianna's life. Somehow, he seems to turn up whenever she is in danger. What does he know about her? How does he know when she needs him?
This is a must read which I recommend to anyone interested in paranormal, romance, mystery and the underworld.

This is a strange book one that I would not normally read but I was looking for something different. WOW! What a story line and very different from my normal but can't wait for volume 2.
Blood Rose was by far the best vampire book I have read. I suspected Damien to be a vampire, but wasn't sure with the normal life he led. My heart went out to Lianna for her awful nightmares and experiencing them. I fell in love with the story line and characters. Looking forward to Book 2 in the Saga.
This was one of the most intense stories I have read in a long time. I felt every emotion the main character had and once had to throw the book. Jacquelynn Gagne gave such amazing detail that I felt like I was living in the story. I absolutely can not wait for the next book in the Blood Saga.
LOVE this book! I really enjoyed the way it was written. Smooth writing is very important to me! The story was amazing. I fell in love with the characters and could not put this book down. Normally, I'm very picky with these type of books and have 4-5 favorites. This is officially one of those! Definitely a must read!!
The story grabbed me from the first page, and I may have to find this author and shake them over the ending. For vampires and romance I expected cliche book porn but got a strong heroine and a powerful plot that ripped through the heart, blood, and pain like a demented roller coaster ride. However while there is love, and tragic pain exploding with emotion on every page there is also a harmonious satire. The main character has spunk. We love her, love with her and for her, yet she is funny, too.
I have read books on vampires for years now, and they all have basically the same concept. Let's face it, most books these days have too. It is rare that there is something completely different when it comes to these little blood suckers. However, I must say. . . Blood Rose is different. I thought I'd read about them all, but then comes along this book and completely changes everything. When I do reviews, I don't leave in depth details or spoilers. I will say the protagonist is ruthless an Ms. Gagne pulls no punches when it comes to introducing him! He is a vile to the core and she created him beautifully. ) The emotions in this book will make you feel like you are on a roller coaster ride. Just as you get to the top and start that quick and rapid decent to the bottom you feel like you left your heart and stomach somewhere at the top!!! Its crazy. Read this book, you won't be sorry at all!!!!!!
